Lyon Star Aly Cissokho: Milan Move Did Not Collapse Due To Failed Medical
The defender has explained his version of events, claiming his failed move to the San Siro had nothing to do with his teeth. Olympique Lyonnais full-back Aly Cissokho has revealed that his move to Milan fell through because of a financial dispute between the Rossoneri and Porto, and not because of a failed medical examination.
The player almost joined the Rossoneri from Porto this summer, but the transfer collapsed when the Italian giants announced the player had failed his medical because of a problem with his teeth. The former Vitoria Setubal player later joined the French outfit for €15 million.
"There were no dental problems. The two clubs contested the [financial] figures of the deal in the last minute," he suggested in an interview with UEFA's official website.
"There were problems with the payment of bonuses that saw the move fall through. I could not do anything about it. The discussions and negotiations were conducted properly in my absence."
However, the 22-year-old does not hold a grudge against the Rossoneri and has tipped them to challenge for the Champions League title.
"It's hard to know if Lyon will go far. I only say we have a united squad with talented players. To advance, we must win all our home matches," he continued with reference to his new club's chances in the Champions League.
"Other teams who are candidates for victory? Milan, they have a winning mentality."
